PN-surfaces for blending applications
نویسنده
چکیده
General theory of PN-surfaces (surfaces with rational offsets) is developed using dual Laguerre geometry and a universal rational parametrization of the Blaschke cylinder. This approach allows to construct new PN-blendings between two natural quadrics in many positions, and demostrate improved shape and lower parametrization degree than earlier proposed canal surface solutions. The construction can be extended via inversion to blendings between natural quadrics and Dupin cyclides as well.

Semi-structured B-spline for blending two B-spline surfaces
Surface blending is a useful operation in geometric design for rounding sharp edges or corners. Meanwhile, NURBS has already become the de facto industrial standard in existing CAD/CAM systems. Therefore, it is required to study how to blend two B-spline surfaces. However, two arbitrary B-spline surfaces (called base surfaces) are hard to be blended with a B-spline surface (called blending surf...
متن کاملRapid Generation of C2 Continuous Blending Surfaces
Most surface-blending methods are able to blend surfaces with tangent continuity. However, curvature continuity has become increasingly important in geometric modelling and its applications, such as computer animation, computer-aided design and virtual reality. In this paper, we present a method which is able to achieve 2 C continuity based on the use of partial differential equations (PDE). A ...
متن کاملBounded Blending Operations
New analytical formulations of bounded blending for functionally defined set-theoretic operations are proposed. The blending set operations are defined using R-functions and displacement functions with the localized area of influence. The shape and location of the blend is defined by control points on the surfaces of two solids or by an additional bounding solid. The proposed blending using a b...
متن کاملGröbner Basis Methods for Algebraic Blending Surfaces in CAGD
The research on constructing algebraic blending surfaces between given surfaces is one of the most important problems in geometric modeling and computer graphics. To solve the problem better, this paper gives novel methods using theories of Gröbner bases to construct the required blending surfaces. According to the main theorems, we obtain the algorithms for constructing the blending surface, w...
متن کاملLocally restricted blending of Blobtrees
Blobtrees are volume representations particularly useful for models which require smooth blending. When blending is applied to two or more Blobtree models, extra volume will be created in between the two surfaces to form a smooth connection. Although it is easy to apply blending, it is hard to accurately control the resulting shape. More complications arise when the blended objects have large s...
